My Hatchery class collaborated with Better Civics, a nonpartisan nonprofit revolutionizing Civic Engagement. We had the opportunity to meet Jen Devor, the President of Better Civics as she introduced the sticker campaign. Our task was to design stickers for Philly 311, a community initiative that the city of Philadelphia has instilled in order for residents to identify, deliver, and report quality of life issues. These reports could include reporting an abandoned vehicle, graffiti, illegal dumping, street damage, and more. While researching, I found that addressing environmental factors such as cleaning up trash, fixing street lighting, and vandalism will result in a significant reduction in violent crimes.
My sticker design focuses on combining the iconic Philly Liberty Bell and a phone with the accompanied copywriting.
Brand Guidelines
Going along with the memorable shape of the Better Civics logo, I decided to create stickers in the same confined shape to build my design within. I also incorporated their primary navy and gold as well as their secondary neon colors. The main goal was to create a sticker that would immediately capture the attention of an individual as a call to action.

Campaign Ads
As there are many rampant city-wide issues impacting the quality of life for residents, I created a set of advertisements with three different scenarios: a leaky fire-hydrant, an abandoned vehicle, and illegal dumping. The hope is for residents to see these ads in locations such as subways, billboard street signs, and bus-stops, and report such issues.
